Tea dances were social highlights of the 1920s. They offered an unpressured environment in which to make new acquaintances. People would dance, laugh, size each other up, explore, enjoy meaningful conversations and dance some more. Tanzfestival Rhein-Main will revive the traditional tea dance complete with a live orchestra as a reminder that dance is not just beautiful to look at but also something everyone can experience and enjoy!

The day before the opening of Tanzfestival Rhein-Main, there is already the opportunity to conquer the public space with dance and festival atmosphere! The Big Line — an invitation to all line dance lovers with and without previous experience to spontaneously dance along — connects three cities of Tanzfestival Rhein-Main. Come along, join the line and dance with us!
Linedance combines elements of ballroom dance and other dance styles. Short choreographies are danced in rows in front of and next to each other. The music is varied. Swing, Latin, pop, country or waltz. Line dancing promotes coordination and balance. And the best thing is: it's so much fun!
The format is suitable for everyone, no previous experience is necessary.
And with whom?
Angela Merkt is a passionate and humorous teacher. Since her early childhood, she has been fascinated by dance in all its facets. Her path led her from ballet to contemporary dance, hip hop, couple dance and line dancing.
She is also a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and today combines this method very successfully with her dance lessons.
