‘an Accident / a Life’ by Marc Brew and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is a breathtaking visual theatre experience combining music, dance, storytelling, film and a car. Based on their own life experiences, the two choreographers investigate what it means when everything in life is suddenly turned upside down. For Marc Brew, it was a car accident that forced him to reinvent his idea of movement and dance from one second to the next.
This autobiographical piece not only shows the moments in our lives when everything changes, it also focusses on the question of how we can deal with such a fateful blow. What happens when the way of life we have planned changes? How much determination do we have inside us, and can it help us find new and different paths?
This solo, which was developed partly through an extended residency from Tanzplattform Rhein-Main, is the first collaboration between the Scottish-based Australian dancer and choreographer Brew and the world-renowned Flemish-Moroccan choreographer Cherkaoui.
