JNIIFA gives you an insight into Afrobeats. The dance style is a generic term for the modern dance styles from Ghana and Nigeria. This includes styles such as Azonto, Shaku, Zanku and many more. Afrobeats takes its name from the music genre Afrobeat. The cultural, social and free-spirited side of Afrobeats creates an environment in which you can have fun while learning and express yourself freely.
Jniifa - Jennifer Owusu is a choreographer, dancer and Dun Dun drummer. From an early age, she had a deep desire to learn more about her Ghanaian roots and the different African cultures. Through regular cultural trips to West Africa and from artistic mentors from West Africa, she learned the traditional and modern dances. She entered the urban dance scene with Locking, with which she took part in dance competitions throughout Germany. In 2020, she was the co-choreographer of the Africanspirit performance on the RTL TV show Let's Dance. She is the founder of the Afro dance group Afrotudedancers and a board member of the cultural association Kaloyelen e. V. In her dance courses, pieces and projects, she focuses on empowerment and self-expression through dance.
