Inhalt
“Gugus” is a Swiss German word that means both “hello” and “nonsense” – and that is exactly what this show is about: moments devoid of any purpose that are simply fun. Inspired by the Dada movement*, GUGUS! invites us to leave behind all pressure to achieve, grow up or make the most of ourselves and rediscover the delights of the absurd. Two circus artists come together on stage and transport the audience into a world full of acrobatics, dance, onomatopoeia, music, rows and nonsense. They hover in the air, transform themselves into strange characters and play with gravity while normal life is put on hold. In GUGUS!, Weingartner, well known for engaging sensitively with social issues, again creates a space in which both young and adult audiences are welcome to get involved and join in. This completes her acclaimed trilogy for young audiences. Following EQUALITY! and SOLIDARITY!, GUGUS! is a comic play about the freedom to lose ourselves in play – and to find ourselves and each other by doing so.
* Dada is a crazy art movement whose artists mix everything up to show that the world sometimes has no meaning.
Tip: Following the performances on November 3 and 4, you can take part in a workshop with the Rebecca Weingartner Company.
